This unique Tibetan prayer wheel pendant was hand crafted in Nepal. It is made from 92.5% pure silver, turquoise and gold. The gold plated syllables are the mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum”. Tibetan prayer wheels are also known as Mani wheels to the Tibetans. They have been used to spread spiritual blessings and “well being” for hundreds of years. Prayer wheels contain rolls of thin paper containing many copies of the mantra or prayer “Om Mani Padme Hum”. The mantra is printed in an ancient Indian or Tibetan script and wound around an axle in a protective container and spun in a clockwise motion. Larger decorative versions of the mantra’s syllables are also carved on the outside cover of the wheel. Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying this mantra either out loud or silently invokes the powerful, benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig the embodiment deity of compassion.
